russell moore Posted August 23, 2022 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2022 I have had this flag for many years now and just got around to doing some research Look at the writing on the flag is it possible he misspelled the Waltham wrong from what I can find I think the obituary is the guy that sent it home
USCapturephotos Posted August 23, 2022 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2022 I think that is very possible. Neat to see one written on with more than just signatures. Nice captured piece from a great U.S. unit! Paul

manayunkman Posted August 23, 2022 Share #4 Posted August 23, 2022 Very cool flag. 30th ID took on some heavy fighting in Normandy. What does it say after Waltham

268th C.A. Posted August 23, 2022 Share #8 Posted August 23, 2022 Unless you trust someone, Id personally frame it my self. Just because of what it is.... Some one could purposely mess it up. JMO. Most don't share the interest in history anymore. They only see the hate factor. It is a nice artifact.
dhcoleterracina Posted August 23, 2022 Share #9 Posted August 23, 2022 The size of the flag would be my first consideration. If it's really big, it will be expensive, even if done yourself as 268th suggests. What might look good is to use the flag as a backdrop for a recreation of his awards patches etc.
sundance Posted August 23, 2022 Share #10 Posted August 23, 2022 Nice flag. I find the historical aspect of these items fascinating. I see, appreciate and agree with the hate side of the argument also, but to me its apples and oranges. I don't see the opposing positions as mutually exclusive. Collectors are by no means glorifying a horrible time in the not-too-distant past. Sadly, others do. I had more but canned it to avoid steering this thread away from its intended direction.
