Still a nice wing

Very nice wings! Luxenberg was a top class maker.

Just a clarification, Luxenberg wasn't a "maker". They contracted their work out to different manufacturers and had them stamp the Luxenberg name on the items. First pattern (like the one shown) and second pattern were made by Blackinton and the third pattern were made by A.E. Co. Great wings. The Air Crew are actually harder to find in this pattern than the pilot wings in my experience.

You are having way to many NICE things walking through the door lately!!!

Absolutely beautiful! As Bob so rightly said, these wings are more difficult to find than the pilot wings by far. Luxenberg wings remind me, each time I look upon them, of the plate armor indicative of medieval knights as the blacksmiths and armorers became adept at mimicking God's natural handiwork on the scales and "armor" of animals like alligators, snakes and armadillos for example. You have an excellent wing and if you are a cleaner as some of us are, the black patching which looks so prolific disappears completely as the buildup of dirt and oxidation are cleared with careful cleaning. I have a Lux Navigator which just looked like it had not only been in the war but fought the war and had a few purple hearts, with oxidation and buildup from the navigator keeping it out in the open air after the war. The build up on the wings over the past 67 years was amazing. The men typically kept their insignia in good clean shape as these men and officers commanded respect and honored the responsibility and privilege given them so I like to keep my wings in that tradition. Here is my wing a year after cleaning....it was so bad they were going to scrap it.

The back of Lux 1st model wings are unique in that they can have divots indentions and strange patination patterns all over the face of the rear and up in the grooves of the rear shoulders but that classic heavy and solid pin assembly is a good tell on authenticity along with the unmatched artistic quality....

Very nice WWII wings by a top class Brand.

Note that Luxenberg wings were manifactured by Blackinton.

Blackinton and Luxenberg items are highly collectable and good quality.

Remember that only the second pattern Luxenberg was made

by Blackinton.

The first pattern (pictured) was made by an unknown maker and the third pattern

is thought to be made by AE Co.

Are you sure about that John? I thought it was pretty much dogma that the first and second patterns were made by Blackinton (not just the second).

Love those Luxenbergs can PM me with any questions you have on these. Luxenberg and KG Luke's are the focus of my insignia collection.

These look legit and if that's is as far as the pin swings open thats even better, nice find.
