sigsaye Posted August 16, 2022 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2022 An old shipmate contacted me with a question. A friend of his husband, was a W-4 Carpenter at the end of WW2. He enlisted as Carpenters Mate First Class. He then quickly was advanced to Chief Carpenters Mate, then commissioned as a Warrant. His rank is listed as Carpenter E-V (G). I have no list of Officer modifiers. Anyone know what the E-V (G) means? Thanks.
Justin B. Posted August 16, 2022 Share #2 Posted August 16, 2022 "USNR designation for Engineer Officers, commissioned and warrant, including electricians, carpenters, and machinists, qualified for general detail afloat or ashore." This site is pretty good for those designators: https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/ref/OPNAV_29-P1000.html
