JimD Posted August 16, 2022 #1 Posted August 16, 2022 This is one of my favorite helmets and, no, it won't be showing up on ebay moments after this post. It is a two-panel FB medic pot with a hand-applied 442nd Regimental Combat Team insignia painted on the side of the liner. It is an early Schlueter pot with a complete CAPAC liner. Most of the components are circa 1943 according to Helmets of the ETO by Giard, which is when the 442nd formed and was trained in Camp Shelby, Miss. The medic panels and the Captain's bars on the pot are not from a stencil and are hand painted, a bit off center in the rear. Whoever painted the 442nd insignia on the liner took great care, adding shadowing and a border to the insignia. I'll be honest, the liner and pot are both named to the same soldier but I'd rather not post the ID.
