cerick1450 Posted August 12, 2022 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2022 Hello This pistol is amazing in hand. It appears that it hat actually have a metal 45 clip in it. The detail is amazing. It is a combination of wood and metal. The grips may actually be originals? sights and loop are all metal. The family thought this was a trainging pistol used by a family member suring the war?? Any idead? thank you..
72psb Posted August 13, 2022 Share #2 Posted August 13, 2022 Maybe a "Parade" gun. A holster filler for an honor guard or other such detail.(VFW or American Legion). Just a WAG. Rubber and aluminum ones have also been used. Maybe to elaborate for that though.

Pep Posted August 17, 2022 Share #5 Posted August 17, 2022 I have one that was given to me by a family friend back in the early 80's. He was in the occupation forces in Germany right after the war. He carried the wooden pistol in his car and when he first showed it to me I was in awe. I was also very young. He said it was carved for him by a German POW during his tour there, to fill his holster when standing guard. It was lighter he said. He also said that there were a lot of GI's that had these made. I think I have only seen one other in 40 years. I painted mine black, I will try to get a pic of it for this post later. the grips on mine are plain, not so nice as those. ccyooper Posted August 18, 2022 Share #9 Posted August 18, 2022 Lytle made cast pistols and sold them but I don’t believe any had removable grips.
