rathbonemuseum.com Posted August 10, 2022 #1 Posted August 10, 2022 A thread for examples and patters from N. S. Meyer
S.ChrisKelly Posted February 11, 2023 #2 Posted February 11, 2023 These are original, N.S. Meyer hallmarked "9M", their hallmark [approxiamtely] 1954 - 1965. Both styles, safety catch & pin and posts-and-clutches, were available. Women personnel generally wore these miniature wings, preferring the safety catch & pin style.
S.ChrisKelly Posted February 11, 2023 #3 Posted February 11, 2023 My mother on active service, 1955 - 1957, 7167th Special Air Missions Squadron, wearing the above wings while a part of USAFE.
5thwingmarty Posted July 17 #5 Posted July 17 Here is what I believe to be a pre-WWII Meyer Pilot wing. I doesn't appear to have ever been worn or hardly ever removed from its original box. I especially like the back of the box which identifies four different Meyer metal types they offered, including Meyer Metal, Meyer Plate, Myrgold and Silvore. I had never seen a reference to Silvore before, and had been under the assumption that these silver-colored wings that were not marked Sterling were silver-plated brass, but according to this they are some mystery "special alloy" and not plated at all.
