arche-foto Posted August 9, 2022 #1 Posted August 9, 2022 Hello, does anyone know anything about US military activities in the former German Protectorate, in German South West Africa, in the early 20th century? Specifically, it's about the following: on several trips to Namibia, the former German protectorate of German Southwest Africa, I found 4 buttons from US uniforms (great seal butten, used from 1902). I found the 4 buttons in 3 places that all have something to do with the German Schutztruppe and also with the Herero uprising of 1904 (2 on a battlefield of the Herero uprising). A Namibian found another button on the old road east of Windhoek. A German auction house offered an old US badge that was found in Namibia, unfortunately without specifying where it was found. How come there is such an accumulation of US military relics? Does anyone have an explanation for this? best regards from arche-foto
