I sadly wasn't and wont be able to get his whole grouping since everything was being sold individually. Also some of it was expensive. Guess that's the downside to being a young collector. Some things i wasn't able to get before they were bought was his flight suit, his dress blues cap, some patches of his and a visor to his flight helmet (i don't know what happened to his flight helmet itself). I apologize for the out of order sequence of the pictures, for some reason my phone puts them out of order. I paid about 100$ for everything.

You did very well getting all the documents and photos.

The mini medal bars are awesome.

Amazing that so much was left for you to get and at a very reasonable price.

Ok so small update: after striking a trade offer for money (involving a game system) with my father, i was able to go back and get some more stuff. I originally wanted to get one of his 2 medals left and some more paper items, but they had found another one of his flight suits, this one from the 50s instead of 60s/70s (which was sold to someone else) i was also able to learn that he almost certainly re-enlisted during vietnam. Next, i was able to get some info on what happened to his dress blue's. He was likely buried in them. Lastly, there was a whole bunch of other paper items there. The real estate agent running the estate sale said that if the paper items don't sell either today or tomorrow, she will give the rest of the paper items to me for free.

Great job on saving what you did! It looks like you probably got the best stuff too. I hope she gives you the rest of the paper items, but even if she doesn't you did good at selecting what you did to keep together. Preserving a grouping is tough work, you did well.

A7D Corsair II, very likely at Korat, Thailand during the Vietnam War.  This one is fully loaded for a ground support mission.

The officer on the viewer's right in the second photo appears to be wearing a 3rd Tactical Fighter Squadron patch.  It would look similar to the one posted below.  image.png.27e22de91c06b76dd9d92c7c213ab04a.png

Obituary.

In this photo, he looks to be wearing a 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing patch.  That lines up with him settling in Alexandria, Louisiana.

The wing was stationed at England Air Force Base, Louisiana, 1 July 1972 – 1 June 1992.

'I just found this in one of the flight suit pockets, some type of dummy bullet?"

Was this in the sleeve pocket? I have seen them before, Think they are caps from a pen or pencil carried there.

Well, let get started then. Im not going to show some stuff that was included like magazines and books that were included. First we got these 2 plaques. The glue holding the brass plate on the 2nd one has melted.

A reel to reel tape. Again it STINKS (which is probably a sign the film has degraded. All or most of this stuff was in the attic)
