Trust me when I say I know nothing about these things. I talked to the owner of this and was told his dad searved on the USS Manila Bay durring WW2. As the story goes when the ship was sent to scrap his dad bought the gun and it has been sitting in that spot ever since.

This is a photo of the USS Manila Bay and she indeed had this type of 5 inch gun mount.

Wow that is awesome!!

I would love to hear the details on how he acquired the gun. Where is this located?

Somebody better do some corrosion control work on the gun before she returns to her natural state.

I remember seeing this gun 45 years ago at that very same location. I was told at the time it was used to cause avalanches.
