Nice medal. Official issue, probably from a Joseph Mayer 1930 contract. 

 

The purple tacking looks added. The brooch is characteristic of Mayer medals.

 

I've had luck reducing the green verdigris by gently brushing with a soft bristle tooth brush. Cover the ribbon with card board to avoid any damage.
