Flea market helmet find

I picked this up at the flea market this morning.  I don't know that much about helmets but I think this is an early WW2 helmet or could it be a civil defense type helmet?  The only markings I could find was a heat treatment number of 8A.

As stated above, this is an M1917A1 Kelly produced by McCord in 1941.  McCord began production in February 1941.  I am not sure when they stopped production, but it would make sense if that coincided with the production of the M1 Helmet in late 1941.
