5thwingmarty Posted December 26, 2022 #2 Posted December 26, 2022 As a manufacturer of so many wings, it drives me crazy that there is so little known about this company. I did a bit of internet searching tonight and found a few bits of info but nothing that presents anything close to a history of the company. From a publication called The Billboard in March of 1919, American Insignia Company at 251 West 125th Street in New York City was a supplier of "Army and Navy Souvenir Jewelry and Novelties", specifically World War Service Medals and Novelties. From the U.S. Patent Office Index of Trade-Marks, 1942, the American Insignia Company of New York, NY had trade marks for "Emblematic jewelry and military insignia" as published June 16, 1942. From the May 13, 1944 Army and Navy Journal, American Insignia Company was at 160 Varick Street in New York offered AMICO insignia, including official Naval Insignia such as Naval Air Crew, Submarine Combat and Submarine Medical Officer badges. From the Bizstanding website, American Insignia Company, Inc. was registered on Feb. 10, 1947 and became inactive as a corporation Mar. 31, 1982. So AMICO was around by at least 1919 and was gone by 1982. It was a New York company, but I found nothing on who founded the company or when. Here are downloads of the bits I could find.
