MedrickMilitaria Posted July 22, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2022 Hey all, I got this nice little snapshot at an antique store today. Unfortunately, no writing on the back, but I have found out a little about the man on the right. Immediately, I notice the pin he's wearing above his left breast pocket. After a quick go with a magnifying glass, I was able to read enough that I identified it as a pin for an Instructor with the US Air Corps Training Service. Another example of the pin can be seen here. The ACTS would become the Army Air Forces Training Command in 1943. He's also wearing the AAFTC unit insignia on his collars and on his garrison cap; example here. You can also see what seems to be the edge of a USAAF patch on his left arm. Lastly, I believe the ribbon he is wearing is the American Defense Service Medal, meaning he served before the US officially joined the war.
