Ollkorrekt37 Posted July 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2022 My luck at antique malls never seems to end, because today I picked up a Vietnam era M1 with a great liner. It's dated to the 6th of June, 1966 (6/6/66!), and the sweatband is dated to 1964. The quality of my camera isn't the best, making the 6 look off with flash. The outside is in very good condition, and has few spots of missing paint. The shell itself is a little more worn, but has a full chin strap with an anchor marking. The paint reminds me more of the 80s style helmets, but I have very limited experience and knowledge on post 50s shells. For some reason, this photo ends up as upside down, no matter how much I edit it. Formatting on this website is not my friend.Heat stamp reads 1 6033. It is very faint, and very hard to see with the camera, even at an angle. I believe this to be Ingersoll? If so, it fits in with the date of the liner. I'd say it's a little too scuffed to call unissued, but in coin collecting terms, I'd say it's about uncirculated.
Justin Posted July 18, 2022 Share #2 Posted July 18, 2022 Very nice helmet, you're correct your shell is made by Ingersoll, IMO that is the original 60s factory paint on both the shell and liner, all you need is a nice clean short flap helmet cover and band and you've got yourself a nice Nam Helmet. BEAR Posted July 19, 2022 Share #3 Posted July 19, 2022 Don't forget to add a nape strap to the liner...... then you will have a nice Nam Helmet.
