corpsman5 Posted July 17, 2022 #1 Posted July 17, 2022 I acquired this helmet several years ago from an old man that I used to visit. He was 96 when he passed. I don't know where he got it, but I know that he had it for a long time. It was hanging high enough on his wall, that I had to use a ladder to retrieve it. At his age, he certainly couldn't have put it there in recent years. Anyway, it's a front seam, swivel bail. Unfortunately, there was no liner in it when I got it. It appears that it was re-painted for use during the Korean Conflict. If viewed in the correct lighting, you can see the contours of the original medic symbols which are below the present paint. It looks like it's in amazing condition, and I would love to know more about it. I took these pictures several years ago, so they are not the greatest. I didn't have one of the interior. I will try to get some better pics when I'm able. In the second picture, you can see the contour of the underlying paint about 2 1/2" to the right of the Captain's Bars.
