Here's an original used Vietnam Marine corps helmets I picked in a trade a few years ago from another forum member. It was originally found on Facebook marketplace from a non military seller, no history but nice original woodwork find.

Would love to see more original Vietnam era helmet sets.

Nice VN set Justin.  It doesn't have that "put together" feel that so many Vietnam sets have. Cover is Killer

I agree.  Like so many "Vietnam" helmets that are just spare parts thrown together and then enhanced with a black sharpie...this one certainly has the look of being an original combination.

I can't get past the cover's seam not being centered on the helmet though!  😁.  It's my OCD kicking in a little.

Thats my favorite part about the set, in fact I would say more than 50% of my original untouched sets have their covers placed off center, Army and Marine, you notice it a lot in photos during the time period.

An example of one from my collection where the cover is way off centre.

You guys do realize this does wonders for those of us who have a bit of OCD? :) I would realy be tempted to straight this to be more in line with the actual center of the helmet.

Adding one of my favourite sets from my collection to the thread. Has been posted on the forum previously a few years ago; grouping attributed to Richard Metsker, Navy Corpsman, who served with USMC in Vietnam 66-67, grouping includes his diary covering his service in theatre, a fascinating read. I am indebted to Dean (ArchangelDM) who enabled me to add this grouping to my collection.

IMHO The absolute best Vietnam grouping I’ve ever seen and had the joy of holding. It’s in another good home now and had gone to someone I respect and trust, and long May it stay there.
It certainly belongs in his collection

My first helmet I ever bought myself when I was 14, I don't know about its history unfortunately but it's my favorite helmet in my collection so far. For graffiti it has what im assumimg is a hometown on the chinstrap and a S on the webbing. As for dates the webbing is dated 1960, the sweat band is 1962 and a 69 cover.

Finally getting around to taking photo's of collection. This one started my interest in USMC Vietnam period M1's. Unfortunately no history with this one, but cover has a red/orange hue to it that doesn't show as strongly in my photo, cover is moulded to the shell, and has airborne liner.
