WWIIBuff1945 Posted July 9, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2022 I picked up this cool WWII bring back from the GS this morning. Its a 1893 Erfurt Reichsrevolver with custom period made grips. How do I tell if they are bone or ivory? Unfortunately no paperwork for it.

Brian Keith Posted July 12, 2022 Share #6 Posted July 12, 2022 That is very Cool! I would say the grips are "bone". Ivory that cannot be documented as being in the US for at least 100 years is contraband, subject to confiscation and destruction. Great engraved "bone" grips! I hope some one can decipher the unit markings. BKW
WWIIBuff1945 Posted July 12, 2022 Author Share #7 Posted July 12, 2022 Brian the dealer that sold it to me said its celluloid. Someone on another forum translated the markings to be - Garde Reserve Feld Artillerie Regiment nr.1., 1.Battery, weapon nr.43.
