We received this education manual today...but with it was the certificate showing that the soldier had been awarded a Purple Heart (whereabouts unknown today)...Staff Sergeant Isbel (his name is misspelled on the certificate) served with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He actually earned two Purple Hearts; his first was for cold weather injury to his foot in November 1943, and then again in December 1944 when he was wounded by shrapnel during the Battle of the Bulge. He was also awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Bronze Star Medal.
