Can you id this artillery shell?

This is really a "bolt" and not a shell. My guess is late 1800's, post Civil War period. Maybe a 5" naval bolt? Does have a letter B and number 3 in the base and it appears like a faint "M" is painted on the side. Any and all help would be appreciated.
