Sailorjerry45 Posted June 30, 2022 #1 Posted June 30, 2022 Good evening gentlemen, A discussion involving a uniform on a separate thread has led to a discussion regarding the 8th army and the notable lack of information regarding their construction and actions in the PTO during ww2, theres seem to be an abundance of information on them during the Korean conflict but nothing prior to that. The discussion was trying to figure out if the 8th army had any reconnaissance units attached to them in some capacity during the war as I happened to have an 8th army uniform with original applied cavalry disks and member Paul70 happened to have one very similar to it as well. I have had no luck finding so much as an order of battle on the 8th army letalone a small recon unit. Does anyone happen to know of any such unit or have any ideas? Thank you, Will
Sailorjerry45 Posted July 13, 2022 Author #2 Posted July 13, 2022 Does anyone by chance have any detailed information on cavalry recon units in the PTO in general?

Sailorjerry45 Posted March 8, 2023 Author #5 Posted March 8, 2023 I don't suppose anyone else might have some different sources or ideas for this one?
bummer Posted March 9, 2023 #6 Posted March 9, 2023 My understanding is the 8th Army took over for the 6th Army and the 112th Cav fought in New Guinea,Bismark Archipelago and Luzon
