zk4298militaria Posted June 30 Author Share #2 Posted June 30 This helmet came out of a dusty old horse barn a couple weeks ago. Couldn’t get any information from the people running the sale as to who it belonged to. Liner and helmet have been together a long time, both sharing the same moisture damage. The liner is the real star although full of dirt and horse hair it’s a WWII production Firestone made with the First Armored paper decal at the front. Webbing is mostly WWII with a replacement sweatband. The shell is a standard rear seam with both chinstraps remaining. There is some light rust and pitting. The soldiers laundry number is stamped several times in the shell. Thanks for looking, if you want more pictures let me know.

TheGoose Posted June 30 Share #6 Posted June 30 Liner is late WWII production, but the sweatband and nape strap are early 1950s era. The shell chinstraps would date the set to the 1960s.

twthmoses Posted July 18 Share #8 Posted July 18 Very nice find. Could you post a couple of more images of the seam, loops, both of them and maybe the lot stamp, if visible.
