My wife’s great uncle fought somewhere in the Pacific I don’t know the details but wanna try to find out more. Couple years ago I did acquire a type 98 nambu from my father-in-law and over the weekend he said that he had a Japanese rifle he forgot to give me a couple years ago. Overall it’s in relatively good shape although the chrysanthemum is filed off it does have a very nice cut down other M1 Garand sling.

Very nice! The Type 38 carbines are much less common the the Type 38 and Type 99 rifles.
