Building a shadowbox display around a bring back pistol

I enjoy putting shadowbox displays together and then hanging them on the wall.

In this case, I started with a late war bring back Japanese T94 pistol I picked up at a gunshow about 5 years ago for cheap. Finish was removed and the grips had obviously been added at sometime in the past. Who brought the pistol back and any special meaning to the grip design was lost by the time it got to me. The pistol needed some internal attention to get it working but it is now functional and I have shot it. What to do with it?

I got the case and began by adding bits and pieces of Japanese odds and ends, the types of small things a GI might put in their pocket as a souvenir.

Then I added the period ribbon bar and Purple Heart to represent an anonymous soldiers service. The last piece to fall in to place was a patch! Which patch? 'Boy Howdy' came through for me with a patch for the 152nd Engineers which shows the ace of spades on the card at the front.

I realize none of these things actually came back together but it was a fun way for me to tell a story with the things I collect.

Thanks 'Boy Howdy' for the patch!

Kim
