Croix de Guerre Posted June 9, 2022 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2022 Recently I was fortunate to pick up a large paper group identified to a Miss Margaret Heines Potts of Highland Township, Chester Co, Pennsylvania. Miss Potts was born on April 6, 1890 to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hamilton Potts. In 1918, she volunteered with the YMCA and went to France as a canteen worker. She was assigned to duty in the French city of La Mans, arriving there is December 1918 just after the Armistice. She continued to serve as a "Y" canteen worker until August 1919 when she returned to the United States and was married. She passed away in 1971. The group is large and varied. It contains numerous letters and a wide variety of ephemera. It seems as if she kept everything. If anyone has any additional information concerning Mrs. Margaret Potts Jacob, I would be interested in hearing from you.
