Croix de Guerre Posted June 8, 2022 Share #1 Posted June 8, 2022 I have recently purchased several WWI women's uniform groups and I am ordering proper mannequins to display the clothing. My question to those of you that have similar uniforms in your collections is: If your uniform did not come with its original shirt and tie; where did you find the appropriate clothing to dress the mannequin under the uniform? I am planning on buying simple plain white, button down modern women's shirts and have found some period looking knit ties. Combined with a tie bar I think that should look nice. Any thoughts? The attached photos are examples of shirts and ties worn by women volunteers.
Croix de Guerre Posted June 8, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted June 8, 2022 Notice how two of the women have two tie bars? One at the top of the knot and one underneath. The last women has one tie bar under the knot. I wonder if women of the day wore paper collars like the men did?
Croix de Guerre Posted June 8, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted June 8, 2022 This is the mannequin company that I am ordering from. I discovered them in 2019. They sell a multitude of different style of mannequins but these bendable cloth mannequins are really nice and professional looking.
