A RR frame and slide non matching SNs but at least matching manufacturer has remnants of yellow rack number on left side of frame.. looks to be original finish .. better pics tonight looking to find out about the small parts too
phantomfixer Posted June 8, 2022 Author #2 Posted June 8, 2022 I was offered rack or field, chose field… not bad, better than I was expecting
Blacksmith Posted June 8, 2022 #3 Posted June 8, 2022 What do you mean “non matching SNs?” Remington Rand didn’t number their slides.

I was hoping you would chime in blacksmith...will post detailed pics later on tonight.... well that makes me feel better blacksmith...I pulled the FP plate off to see if there was a number on the slide..looked like 19, so..assumed(🙄) it was non matching...

dunmore1774 Posted June 8, 2022 #9 Posted June 8, 2022 That is a nice one, makes me wish I got in on the CMP lottery
Blacksmith Posted June 9, 2022 #10 Posted June 9, 2022 That is a really solid example of a Type-III Remington Rand / Augusta Arsenal rebuild. That mark under the firing pin stop is actually a letter “G”, which is fine. All of the small parts look right for this 1945-manufactured example. Narrow spur hammer, 8-rib Mainspring Housing, short stamped trigger, correct barrel, etc. Only SOOOOOPER-nit-picky thing, which is the easiest to remedy, is the mis-matched grip panels. The right panel looks like a Keyes Fiber one, which would be correct for this beauty (you can confirm this by shining a light in the magazine well, after ensuring that the weapon is unloaded, clear, and safe, and looking at the back-side of the panel. It should have crossed reinforcing ribs, with a star with a “K inside of it, and a mold number near it). The left panel has wide reinforcing rings, which were not used on RRs. I am impressed at how nice it is. Congrats.
mohawkALSE Posted June 9, 2022 #11 Posted June 9, 2022 Thats a pretty nice and honest used looking pistol. I hope they do another lottery so I can get in on the next one if it happens.
phantomfixer Posted June 9, 2022 Author #12 Posted June 9, 2022 Thanks gentlemen and thank you Blacksmith for reviewing the pistol....greatly appreciated...
