My Spearhead Collection

While I prepare to leave for school, I am a little disappointed that I will never be able to attend a 3AD reunion or get together. With this in mind, I decided to hold my own. Real Association reunions ran from 1948 to 2012. I would like to present the 65th 3rd Armored Division Reunion, and a group photo of all identified uniforms in my collection. Please note that I have many more 3AD uniforms, but it is difficult to narrow the owner down to a certain person. Thank you to my dear friend’s Carol Westberg, Steve Borts, and Josh Leasure for helping me start this hobby! These uniforms range from privates to colonels, with many ranks in between. All the vets have a story, and all of these men were affected by the war they fought. I wish I could have met them all. Here are all my Spearheaders- true heroes!

First Row (Left to right): Colonel Raymond E Dunnington (Battalion Commander) of HQ/486AAA, Captain Alex E Bardowski (Dentist) of Division Trains, 2 jackets from Captain John R Barclay (M4 Sherman Company Commander) of H/33AR, 1st Lieutenant Kenneth R Malick (M5 Stuart Platoon Leader) of B/33

Second Row: 2nd Lieutenant Juan A Noguera (Infantry Branch) of unknown 3AD unit, 2nd Lieutenant Charles J Dixon of A/67AFA, T-3 Joseph A Tomaszewski (Radio Repair Section) of 143ASC, Staff Sergeant George N Toma (M10 and M36 Platoon Sergeant) of A/703TD, Sergeant Clyde R Ramsey (Infantryman) of H/36AIR, Sergeant Otto A Buehler (Gas Section Leader) of Svc/54AFA

Third Row: Possibly T-4 Henry L Pinto of HQ, Corporal Walter P Gryszka (Rifleman scout) of HQCo/36AIR, T-5 CMB Dysart (Ambulance Driver) of C/45Med, T-5 Manuel A Baker (Battery Radioman) of Svc/54AFA, Private-First-Class Ralph C Nebergall (Truck Driver) of B/Supply, Private-First-Class Joseph P Hayseley of Svc/391AFA

I could not have asked for a better hobby. As my last month of freetime winds down, I am happy to have so many good memories!
Go Spearhead,

Preston

I would love to see 3AD items from the collections of others!

Seeing this collection really made my day. It is one remarkable assembly of great hard to find uniforms. Love the detailed research. Many hours spent making it one of the best collections I have ever seen.  Just a super group. Thanks for posting. Dave
