knd643 Posted May 21, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 21, 2022 Picked this up recently. A Japanese rising sun flag with writing that says "Landing Memorial in Japan 1946" with various Japanese cities listed around the flag. Was brought home by Lt. Lyall Bennett from Detroit, MI who served in the 33rd ID in WWII.
skinsfan Posted November 11, 2023 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2023 I ran into one of these up by my antique market. It was similarly marked. I believe the town was Nagoya but I can’t swear to that anybody have any ideas what these were worth? I don’t remember what he was asking, but seemed like it was quite a bit, thanks scott

They can be pretty plain with just a city name and sell around $35-$50 depending on condition, or they can have some very nice artwork and sell up to a couple hundred dollars. If it's a rising sun flag it'll add more value since those are not as common than standard Hinomaru(meatball) flags. If you're remembering the city name "Nagoya" then I'm sure that's what was written on the flag. Nagoya was a popular city for GI's to visit during occupation and get souvenir flags.
