siege1863 Posted May 20, 2022 #1 Posted May 20, 2022 When I had the opportunity to interview a number of former German POWs held in the camp at Clinton, Mississippi, one of the questions I asked was what brands of beer could they purchase in the "Kanteen." One man remembered Schlitz and had a recollection of another. He could not remember the actual brand but said it sounded like "bugle boy." Although there is a current make by this name, it did not exist as early as WWII. Can any members here suggest the possible brand? Maybe regional? I attempted to search beer ads from the period using Newspapers.com, but there are too many results when using the term "beer." Google phrase and image searches were not productive. Thanks.
ScottG Posted May 21, 2022 #3 Posted May 21, 2022 Pfeiffer Beer of Detroit had special cans made in 43 and they were one of the most popular brands in the country at the time. Scott
