hello all,

got at last the much coveted Cavalry mounted trousers of the correct variant after so many years of searching, in order to have completed at least the most visible and appealing items.

Great condition and no defects, these Pattern 1884 specimen shows the newer 'Saxony Blue' adopted in place of the Sky Blue starting about April 1885. Also the yellow stripes are the newer Dark Yellow that replaced the older Lemon Yellow in 1887. Blouse is a Pattern 1890.

Campaign hat Mod. 1889 and cream-colored gloves are already been depicted in another topic, as well as the leather accoutrements, Mod. 1885 carbine sling, cartridge belt, Mod. 1881 holster and the 2nd Model Schofield revolver.  Thus displayed here are only the basic clothing outfit for a post-1887 Cavalry Sergeant, less the proper boots.

Really glad to have found and got them, I almost had lost any hopes after perhaps 8 /9 years  -   unless steering toward some that were real relics, or the uncorrect (as for the involved timeframe) Pattern 1898. Hope they may show up appealing. Thanx!

The reinforced seat for mounted service, down the legs to ankles is present but barely visible here.  What can look to be many moth holes, are actually tiny drops of a incoming rain

Buttons for the fly and the suspenders are all present and solid. The two main side pockets do have vertical mouths, and one small watch pocket is on the front toward right.

An inspection date of November 1893 is stamped on the inside lining but barely readable.

Stripes go under the hem this way. Width of stripes is more than the prescribed one for Sergeants (1") as often it happened. More generous tolerances here bring the measure to almost 1. 1/4''.

Very interesting in my opinion, no outside stitchings for the stripes. They are sewn along the very edges and folded inside.
