Hello, today’s find at our local swap meet. I’ve never seen a name tag like this and was pleased to see it’s for Professional Naval Chaplaincy.

It was a bit muddy but cleaned up. I believe the G-1 is from about 1962. The other jacket has what seems to be his sons name? Pilot?

The seller found them up on a garage shelf during demolition. Best, Bill

The G! was a fiscal year 1964 cintract. The Nimes is an 1983 contract. Nice find

A PNC is a Chief Personnelman.  PN's were enlisted men who maintained enlisted service records.  No connection with chaplains.  He probably served on an aircraft carrier or an air station and "obtained" the flight jacket there.  Yes, most likely the other jacket is his son's.  Nice father/son set.

Thank you. Then the book and feather symbol has no religious connection? It must resemble a personnel tally booklet. Best, Bill

Right, no connection.  There was a rate "religious program specialist" that was authorized in 1979, but their emblem was quite a bit different.  PNs and YNs were both admin rates.  The YN or yeoman had cross quills and the PN was the book and quill.

Thanks again. Not a bad deal, $25 for both. Best, Bill
