Schnicklfritz Posted February 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2009 Here's a cool find that I picked up a while ago. Love the scabbard cover. Now I have to find the field made shovel cover!! Both pieces are named to the same Marine....

Schnicklfritz Posted February 24, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted February 24, 2009 Great finds. What is that stamped on the scabbard cover? The Marine stamped his name all over the shovel cover and on the scabbard.

jackconaway Posted March 31, 2014 Share #13 Posted March 31, 2014 those are repros, i usually stay away from anything made out of poncho and has that weird name font. apparently, awhile back, someone cut up some ponchos and made fake gear out of them. i saw at least 5 things at the SOS with the same name fonts and same material, including the flimsy fabric holding on the hook. my opinion when it comes to stuff like this is a big NOPE
Steve1987 Posted April 1, 2014 Share #14 Posted April 1, 2014 Woaw, we are digging up a really old thread from 2009! Jack is absolutely correct, the above items are 100% fake made for the sole purpose of deceiving. I guess back in 2009 these fakes were not so well known. If the OP comes back he shouldn't feel too bad, I have a shovel cover from the same 'artist' and a DQP bandage pouch from another skilled 'artist'. Most big USMC collectors have been tricked once while figuring everything out. Sorry for the bad news on the old thread. -Steve
combat-helmets Posted April 7, 2014 Share #15 Posted April 7, 2014 Top shelf items!
Steve1987 Posted April 7, 2014 Share #16 Posted April 7, 2014 Top shelf items! How are these top shelf items? Top shelf reproduction items? If you read the thread, these are both fakes and stand ZERO chance of being original. Sorry to be bearer of bad news but for the sake of serious discussion we can't just blindly compliment what is posted. -Steve
Ronnie Posted April 7, 2014 Share #17 Posted April 7, 2014 Yep these aren't the real deal. Ronnie
