Hi Hello,

I have 2 sateen shirt, pre-Vietnam war that has 1st Cav. insignia on it.

I personally think the 1st Cav. insignia is period Korean-war, Japanese-made on the shirt belonged to 2nd Lt. Bonini, the name tape also appears to be Japan-Machine embroidered.

As for the shirt belonged to Wilson, i personally don’t have any idea..

The name tape is worn on the left chest which i learned around mid 51 - early 54 period.

Would love to hear more about those jackets.

Thank you!

Larry S. Bonine, why it has a I at the end on the NAME Tape. I don't know

On Feb. 15, 1968, while acting as security for a bucket loader operator traveling to a fill site along National Highway QL-1 south of Sa Huynh, Vietnam, Jim Wood became the first casualty of the Vietnam War from Eldon.

"As they neared the site they were suddenly fired upon by hidden Viet Cong riflemen," Capt. Larry S. Bonine wrote in a letter addressed to Jim Wood's parents dated March 17, 1968. Bonine added, "His comrades rallied around him and medical aid was summoned immediately but to no avail."

hi hello,

So the first jacket actually belonged to Larry S. Bonine?? And “EN” means engineering branch?

i think the most likely error name tape, and he decide to keep this one.

thank you for the valuable info Sir

Yes EN stands for Engineers, as to the Tape, I don't know, Bonine  is the only logical match.
