M1 Identification, help needed. Alleged Vietnam era helmet.

Hello, I have this helmet in my collection. I got it as a Vietnam era helmet.

It has lain unnoticed with the other helmets for several years and now I have the opportunity (time)  to take a closer look at it.

I usually collect other stuff, so my knowledge in this area is very limited. Can anyone help me to identify the helmet?

The shell has a heat stamp. It's not clearly readable, looks like 105C.

Steel shell: Front seam. Smooth surface, colour light olive drab, (similar FS X-34087).

Liner:  CMP made (stamped), the chin straps are not appropriate.

The helmet cover is a Mitchell reversible leaf pattern camo cover.

Thanks in advance!

The cover is Vietnam and the liner looks to be but the pot isn’t.

Thanks a lot. Is the pot made in the US? Once I was told and I have written,  a unique identifier for WW 2 US models  is the front rim seam and the heat stamp in the feont. Or could it be a clone helmet?

The M1 topic is so extensive 😬 (but at the same rime very interessting).

I thought maybe it's a "refurbished" and modifiwd WW 2 "pot", which was used until or beyond Vietnam.

yes the helmet is a reissue helmet that has been refurbished  ..........they stripped and repainted some were smooth and some had the texture in them . i have several of these . i ever have one with a Korean war heat stamp. a lot of these were early to mid Vietnam war. i like it great piece in my opinion.

Looks like an American helmet that was lend-leased to a European country at one point.

The chinstraps attached to the shell appear the be euroclones, and the ones hooked onto the liner are off an East German M60 helmet.  They are tied onto the attachment hooks that accept a removable nape strap.

The cover is nice and a 1968 contract, definitively American issued.

If you remove the german chinstraps in the liner, it’d be a close-enough Vietnam period helmet.

This is a great forum. I really appriciate your support. By the way, I am from Germany and I got the helmet ca. 25 years ago from a retired Vietnam veteran. At this time he lived in Germany and he was already retired, besides he taught young NCO and officer candidates how to behave in war imprisonment.

We had a good contact and the helmet was a gift to me. It' not his own helmet and has not been worn by him.

Is it possible to identify the head stamp?
