walika Posted May 8, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 8, 2022 Bengal Air Depot | 5317th Air Depot Hq (Prov) CBI In the Calcutta area, the 28th, 47th, and 83d Air Depot Groups, all operating within a few miles of each other and collectively known as the Bengal Air Depot, were provided with a supervising headquarters on 4 December 1943, designated the 5317th Air Depot Headquarters (Provisional). The Bengal Air Depot served as the main center of stockage. Elements: Hq, Bengal Air Depot Engineer Supply Detachment 48th Medical Platoon (Supply, Avn) 333d Airdrome Squadron 411th Air Service Squadron 411 Service Squadron (Training) Charleston Army Air Field, SC 1 Sep 43 (probably activated earlier in 1943) to 29 Mar 44. Transferred to Air Service Command Training Center, Fresno, CA on 29 Mar 44. Reorganized and redesignated 411 Service Squadron on 13 Apr 44. Redesignated 411 Air Service Squadron on 23 Sep 44. At Barrackpore at least from Feb to Sep 45. Inactivated 26 Feb 46. Disbanded 8 Oct 48. Reconstituted 31 Sep 85 as 411th Tactical Missile Maintenance Sq (not active). 923d Signal Co.
