Blacksmith Posted May 8, 2022 Share #2 Posted May 8, 2022 It’s a late medal that someone has stuck in a WWII box.
Bustergut Posted May 8, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted May 8, 2022 Does the engraving appear to be armed forces or private?

Blacksmith Posted May 9, 2022 Share #6 Posted May 9, 2022 I will defer to @Dave, or others that are more knowledgeable, but the name is reminiscent of the style that I would expect to see on modern medals as well - maybe a MILPERCEN re-issue? Dave Posted May 9, 2022 Share #7 Posted May 9, 2022 That's engraving typically seen on 80's vintage reissue medals. Someone put it in an older box and I'm assuming is trying to pass it off as a "WW2" award. Also, the combined three oak leaf clusters....those didn't start showing up till the 80s either. Dave Posted May 9, 2022 Share #8 Posted May 9, 2022 Looks like he did get wounded multiple times in 1944 (each are different admission dates). He could well have gotten four Purple Hearts.
