Allan H. Posted May 9, 2022 Share #7 Posted May 9, 2022 Before the Berlin Wall came down, an East German VOPO helmet would set you back around $400 IF you could find one. After the wall came down, the price on them quickly dropped to $14.99 in "Shotgun News." The Woodland pattern cover is not tough to find $10-15 at shows etc. Allan
Rakkasan187 Posted May 9, 2022 Share #8 Posted May 9, 2022 If you remove the woodland cover, you should find a stamping on the helmet which can help tell when it was manufactured. You may also be able to find marks on the leather chinstraps as well. Some of the earlier VOPO helmets are very desirable and still bring several hundred dollars. This one I would guess without seeing the marks would be 1980s manufacture, Best regards Leigh
Allan H. Posted May 9, 2022 Share #9 Posted May 9, 2022 Leigh makes a good point that the earlier VOPO helmets do have aa following and continue to bring aa much better price than later helmets. The fact that your helmet has a plastic suspension leads to to the conclusion that this isn't one of the earlier, more desirable examples.
