tarheeltim Posted May 2, 2022 #1 Posted May 2, 2022 I recently picked up a WWII American Campaign Medal and noticed on the box that it was specifically issued by the U.S. Marine Corps. This is the first one I've seen like this. Anything rare or unusual about this?
Bruce Linz Posted July 26, 2022 #2 Posted July 26, 2022 Nice medal box. The U. S. Mint initially produced the three (3) World War II Campaign Medals for the Navy, the Marine Corps , and the Coast Guard. Those medals were not made service specific (they are all the same), but the blue boxes they were issued in were different. I think the S. & A. Order number is the same for all medals, only the branch of service was changed. This may have been done to help the Mint account for each service getting the number of medals they required.
