etomilitaria Posted April 25, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 25, 2022 Can I get some thoughts on this M1C set please. Set up for. Lt. Col. Possibly named on headband as 'Morris'. Firestone 1963 liner. Shell is a repainted WWII McCord (heat stamp 1210B). Anchor marked hardware on the chinstrap. Leather chinstrap buckle looks to be NOS with an anchor stamp too. Shell, liner and camo cover all have Lt. Col. Insignia. Does it feel right or feel off? Thanks in advance and pictures to follow.

USMC_COLLECTOR Posted April 25, 2022 Share #6 Posted April 25, 2022 Looks like a good early war MC1!
BEAT_NAVY Posted April 25, 2022 Share #7 Posted April 25, 2022 Definitely named as Morris
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted April 25, 2022 Share #8 Posted April 25, 2022 The one factor I find odd is the sharpie drawn on the liner... But that's about it...
dmar836 Posted April 25, 2022 Share #9 Posted April 25, 2022 Some collectors are obsessed with the visibility of heat stamps.
Sneaky Posted April 25, 2022 Share #10 Posted April 25, 2022 Looks fine to me. Chinstrap looks certainly added on afterwards but it’s genuine nonetheless.

Couldn't believe someone would attempt to highlight it like they have done. Certainly wasn't me!
etomilitaria Posted April 25, 2022 Author Share #12 Posted April 25, 2022 Thanks all - just saw it and it took my fancy. Even if it isn't propeely linked to a named individual, it's a nice representative piece. I know it wasn't common practice to wear the silver insignia on the Mitchell cover but there are always pictures illustrating the exceptions to the rule so I'll leave this on display as I have received it. The matching insignia on all parts are really nice to see.
