Thanks, just thought nothing had been added for a while so wanted to put the topic back to the top again. I will keep a lookout for further models to add. regards lewis. . Hi Warguy. I had to laugh at myself today, I had it in my mind since you started this thread that I had other recognition models and I walk past a unit of shelves about twelve times a day easily, finally today I looked up above my head and there was the tip of a wing overhanging the shelf . . . . . . now I still have the feeling that I have some other recognition models boxed somewhere, maybe one day. Some sort of vacuum formed resin model of a Stirling Mk - I, no makers mark at all. . regards lewis. ...
warguy Posted March 1, 2023 Author #52 Posted March 1, 2023 Wow nice, thanks for sharing. Looks in nice condition. I wish I had militaria I didnt know about hidden away! The Brits made these models as well, I don't own any of them and I am not sure about how they are marked, but I am betting this one is English made. Thanks again! 1 hour ago, General Apathy said: . I once saw a photo post war of Grand Central Station (IIRC) that had literally thousands of them hanging from the ceiling after the war. I guess they thought it was better than tossing them. I love this war time shot though.

General Apathy Posted April 20, 2023 #57 Posted April 20, 2023 . Hi warguy, An interesting article that German saboteurs tried to attack the secret underground chamber at Grand Central station in WWII. It states that two of the saboteurs were given a death sentence for the proposed attack. https://gothamist.com/arts-entertainment/video-inside-grand-centrals-secret-sub-basement-which-nazis-nearly-destroyed regards lewis

swag Posted November 13, 2023 #67 Posted November 13, 2023 Here are five models I have. Three of them look to be Cruver made. The FW-187 still has the nomenclature on the bottom of the fuselage. The Bf-109 and B-25 have had nomenclature and date of manufacture scrapped off. The FW-190 is painted green with black canopy, no idea who the manufacture is. The blue one I'm guessing is a British plane. It's blue with a black canopy and gun turret.

Deeply envious, I love the Bf-109 and the FW-190, especially the 190 which was a leap forward for aircraft at the time. The unknown British aircraft you have, I believe is a Blackburn ROC or variant there-of. regards lewis. ...

I knew it wasn't US, figured it was British based on the design of the tail. They're all up for grabs if you're interested. I've no desire to keep them - I like building scale models. Kevin

General Apathy Posted November 16, 2023 #75 Posted November 16, 2023 . A word of warning today . . . . . . Moving things around in a display case today I realised that there was some sort of chemical reaction happening between this plastic / resin model and the aluminium cup it was perched upon. I never gave a thought that there would have been a reaction but it's alarm bells now to keep a look out for other display items that might be being similarly affected. Note the brown staining on the lip of the cup and the weeping and distortion on the underside of the aircraft. ( The rim of the aluminum cup was clean when placed in the display case. ) regards lewis. ...
