What do I have here? The ribbons are different length, is that significant? Also what do the initials “HSP” on the brooch represent? The owner or manufacturer?

The Army Victory Medal came in different lengths depending on the number of bars attached.

The shorter ribboned medal looks original. The coppery brooch is usually found on medals made by Joseph Mayer Co.

The brooch on the longer ribbon medal is upside down, so it has been removed and replaced. The initials are probably those of the soldier awarded the medal.

It is easy to add or remove clasps from these medals, so originality is difficult to prove.

nice medals

It was also my understanding that the Navy/Marine Corps versions were that of the shorter ribbon length. Which my best guess is the one on the right would possibly be a Marine Corps one as I have a similar version with the Meuse-Argonne clasp and a star attributed to a Walter B. Buck
