mbec Posted April 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 18, 2022 Happy Easter everybody. Got this off craigslist a while back. The guy said he found it in an attic so I assume it all goes together. The 635th was in Thailand during the Viet Nam War, The helmet is a front seam swivel bail. The only number I could get was 29. And I think maybe the bails were a conversion from fixed? They just look kind of sloppy. The top of the helmet is pretty beat up with paint loss but looks good with the cover. The ball cap is embroidered with the unit, a Lieutenant bar, and I assume the nickname Slapflare. The wool beret does not look as if it ever had any device on it. There are actually 2 berets the exact same. Did not know whether this would be under groupings or helmets so I just took a shot. If it needs to be moved please do so.
