gunbb Posted April 15, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2022 The big one, I bought not knowing if what the guy said was true or not. He said it was a Confederate canteen. About 50 years ago, I sent it to the Museum of the Confederacy and Les Jenkins said it looked good . The smaller one I picked up at a club meeting from Chuck Fowler out of California. I bought it because it had the same shape and material as the big one. Not sure if it was a kids canteen, an officers booze storage or what . Maybe you advanced collectors can enlighten me. gunbb Posted April 16, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted April 16, 2022 Well I thought it was cool. Considering any kind of metal was so scarce , this has to be rare. Most canteens I've seen that were Confederate, were wooden.
