Hi all, looking at this jacket and wondering how to tell if its a copy or not. Does have age but can`t find a similar tag to compare.

Any help appreciated.

For the wear to the liner and knits, the hide should be well broken in to be WWII IMO. As for details: It doesn't appear to be horse hide though some WWII jackets were apparently cow. Still this is not the hide seen in WWII jackets. The pocket flaps are oversized and the incorrect shape for a RW. Not a nickle Talon zip for that contract. The labels are not WWII labels.

Unfortunately, this is a repro - possibly Real McCoy's based on the label style.

The devil is in the details. Acme is one website where you can see many original contracts with differing details of each contractor. I would be quite hesitant nowadays without knowing what each contract had, the possible variations/errors, and the provenance as JC and some others are making some astounding A-2 repros. They are well worth buying to wear but not as an original piece.

Thanks Dave, most helpful. Just looking at it on a sale site here in UK but don`t know enough about them to be sure.

Regards
