Confederate Cannon Ball

This little three pounder has been in my parents house for many decades. Someone found it on the Spring Hill battleground in 1921 and decided to paint it on the ball. It has been the topic of conversations over the years. I am not a collector of cannon balls. Comments welcome.

here is an easy way to measure circumference 

take a piece of string, go once around ball, that is the circumference

The diameter is a 1/16 of an inch under 3".
