Identify this oil/kero jug

Bought this metal vessel today for $40. How did I do? More importantly, how and when was it used? A quick google showed the same one called an oil or kero jug so I figured I would post it here in the tool section.

that is cool as anything.. I've seen similar ones posted on the G.503 forum for oil servicing in motor pools and pretty much any place oil was used....WWII/1940s era...a really nice find
