This is a fascinating scrapbook of an early American Submarine that was in service from 1918 to 1945 and it saw WW2 Combat against the Japanese Navy. It has 151 pages of articles, comics, pictures(mostly of girls),etc.. This sailor appears to have served from 1928 to 1931.

This seemed to be a common activity for sailors of the Asiatic Fleet.  I have one from a sailor on of the destroyers.

It's like a time capsule; music, fashion(pictures of girls), pictures and articles of ships, politics, cartoons, hotel and bar receipts, etc.
