Jake Zenger Posted April 1, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2022 Hello! Was wondering if I could get some opinions on this helmet liner. Looks like it was manufactured in 1952. Thoughts as well on the skull paintings on the outside? Any help is much appreciated! Thank you in advance. Best, Jake
Mr.Jerry Posted April 1, 2022 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2022 I think a 50's Capac refurb over an older Westinghouse. The condition and some what modern looking design of the skulls puts me off, but I am only looking at pictures. Can you see age to the skull paint? It could just be a really well rendered examples. I think the Coast Guard guys used the skulls somewhat regularly.
Burning Hazard Posted April 3, 2022 Share #3 Posted April 3, 2022 The leather liner chinstrap is WWII production (brass buckle and United Carr hardware) and probably worth more than the liner itself. Pat
Jake Zenger Posted April 3, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted April 3, 2022 Thanks for the opinions so far, gentlemen. I wish I would have taken better, up close pictures of the paint. It did look fairly newer paint to me with small drops forming where the paint started to drip. I'll try to go back and get better pictures. Thank you again! Jake Zenger Posted April 4, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted April 4, 2022 Was able to go back and get a few more pictures of the paint. Hopefully these are helpful. It looks glossy and new. Would appreciate any more thoughts and opinions. Thanks again.
