Ryan Reese Posted April 1, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2022 Have you ever wanted to get more confused on the different ERDL patterns? We'll here's an excellent opportunity to walk any with more questions than answers. Partially joking... I've been very intrigued by the development and fielding of the ERDL patterns. The grey areas and unknowns only make it more interesting. As a newer collector, I'll admit that I know very little but learning and hunting for these pieces has been a lot of fun. I've pulled a lot of great info from USMF and YouTube, most notably the Uniform History Channel. He had a great video on ERDL that helped me out. Here are 6 covers that I currently have dated: - 1969 - 1976 - 1976 - 1977 - 1979 - 1980 As you can see, there are a lot of differences and some have very obvious shadowing. Ryan Reese Posted April 1, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted April 1, 2022 Here are two vastly different patterns. Both made in 1976 at the same place. Notice the different contract numbers and “02” vs “03”. Not sure if those are pattern designations though.
