Gun Charger

This is a mystery item for me, I assume it is for a fighter aircraft to charge the gun/s while in flight. Does anyone have a more specific answer for this? It's approx. 24-inches long

Thanks for that Robin.. looking into it more, I read the P-51 MGs we’re charged on the ground.. assuming this would be the case on all fighters or aircraft where the guns are Inaccessible in flight… so still thinking it’s for a gun turret

Looks familiar, looking for cockpit shots of US Fighters, Attack aircraft or Dive bombers that had forward firing machine guns in the upper or lower cowl would be my first try at locating.

 

Any visible P/N on the handle?
